Biography
Her training, her career, and how she came to practice in Vienna.
Dentistry was Dr. Julia Lokitis’s plan from the beginning. She has described dreaming of being the Tooth Fairy at three years old and working in dental labs as a teenager — a path that led her to a profession where the biological sciences and artistry meet.
She earned her undergraduate degree at the University of Maryland, College Park, and completed her Doctor of Dental Surgery at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, graduating with special honors in prosthodontics — the discipline concerned with restoring and replacing teeth. She followed dental school with a one-year General Practice Residency at York Hospital in Pennsylvania. That hospital-based year added advanced training in cosmetic procedures, restorative work, veneers, oral surgery, implant surgery and the management of dental trauma, and it is the reason a broad range of treatment can be handled in this office rather than referred elsewhere.
Since then she has spent over 15 years in general practice across Northern Virginia and Maryland. When Dr. Barry Laurent retired, Dr. Lokitis took over his Vienna office, and the practice was established under her own name in 2024. The team stayed on through that transition, so the office she owns today is largely the office his patients already knew.
She keeps her training current through the professional bodies she belongs to: the American Dental Association, the Northern Virginia Dental Society — where she serves on the Membership Committee — the Greater Washington Academy of Dental Studies, the Academy of General Dentistry and the Virginia Academy of Comprehensive Dentistry. Her Botox training is through the International Academy of Facial Aesthetics, and her clear aligner work through the American Academy of Clear Aligners.

From dreaming of being the Tooth Fairy at age 3 to working in dental labs as a teenager, dentistry has always been my calling. I love combining biological sciences with artistry to help people achieve healthy, beautiful smiles.
Recently married to my husband Scott, we live in Alexandria with our cat Carl. When I'm not at the practice, you might find me baking elaborate gingerbread houses, catching a Broadway musical or rock concert, exploring local wineries, or cheering on the Washington Capitals and Nationals.
As a longtime Virginia resident with over 15 years of experience in Northern Virginia and Maryland, I understand the unique needs of our community. Whether it's the busy professional who needs flexible scheduling or the family looking for comprehensive care under one roof, I'm here to serve our neighbors.
